Welcome to our site

The northern region of Réunion includes the capital Saint Denis and includes the towns of Sainte-Suzanne, Sainte Clotilde, Sainte-Marie and La Montagne. Much of the region enjoys a hot and humid tropical climate which contributes to the rich vegetation of the land. The north of the island is also its cultural centre with its arts scene as diverse and vibrant as the people of Réunion itself.
The capital city unites all the various aspects of the rich local heritage, and all around it, with mountains on three sides, hikers and Sunday walkers have a generous choice of natural spots to explore. The fertile lands of Sainte-Suzanne, Sainte-Marie and La Montagne provide ideal conditions for diverse agriculture and visitors to the region will experience the botanical riches the island has to offer.

Sainte Suzanne

Spanning the Saint-Jean River and the Ravine-des-Chèvres, Sainte-Suzanne enjoys a hot and humid tropical climate, an excellent environment for a rich and diverse agriculture. While you are here, visit the Domaine du Grand Hazier and the Niagara waterfall or see an exhibition at the St Suzanne lighthouse or take the kids to the play area at Bocage.

Sainte-Clotilde

Sainte Clotilde is a suburb of St Denis, located on Reunion’s northern coast. Within the town centre is a small selection of shops. A marina in the town offers stunning ocean views.

Sainte-Marie

The land of Sainte-Marie consisted of fertile agricultural plains where coffee, wheat, corn and rice were farmed. Subsequently the area became known for its sugar cane, notably the La Mare district with its sugar refinery, the remains of which can still be seen today. In Sainte-Marie you can try canyoning at Bassin Boeuf by Piton Fougères and visit the tombs of canonized Brother Scubillion and the Vierge-Noire at Rivière des Pluies. The international Roland Garros airport, gateway to the island, is also situated here, in the middle of a high-level economic hub, near to a fishing and pleasure port.

La Montagne

At La Montagne, discover the colours and fragrances of an authentic Creole garden in a peaceful setting. Wander into the heart of the tropical flora with a guided walk which leads you on a discovery of the botanical riches of the Island of Réunion and its art of living.
